How to Use a v1 V2 Calculator
A v1 v2 calculator is an online tool that solves for an unknown quantity in the momentum conservation equation given values of the other variables. It is particularly useful when working with solutions of mass per volume concentration (pg/mL, mg/mL, g/L etc).
For example, you received an antibody at a stock concentration of 10 mM and want to dilute it to obtain 5 mM. The dilution calculator allows you to find the volumes of a starting and final solution by using the C1V1 = C2V2 formula.
This online tool uses the principles of Boyle's law, which states that a constant internal pressure is proportional to the inverse of the volume. To use this calculator, first check which quantity you want to calculate by looking at the formula wheel in the top-right corner of the page. Then enter the values for the other quantities in their corresponding text boxes. Finally, press the Calculate button to get the results.
You can also use this calculator to find the initial and final velocities of two bodies after a collision by entering their masses in the first (m1) and second (m2) text boxes. Then enter their initial velocities in the third (u1) and fourth (u2) text boxes, respectively, and their final velocities in the fifth (v1) and sixth (v2) text boxes. The unit of each quantity is listed next to the text box, and only metric SI units are supported.
Another use for this calculator is to determine the speed at which an aircraft would need to be flying to reach a specified altitude after takeoff. This is known as the T/O safety speed, and it strongly depends on aircraft performance. Some aircraft manufacturers even have their own algorithms for calculating these speeds, in order to produce aircraft-specific data tables and charts that pilots can memorize or use before each flight.
